2008 Local Area Personal and Per Capita Income available

The U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis has recently released 2008 personal and personal per capita income data for local areas. As you can see from the map, most Utah counties show per capita income dramatically below the national average. In fact, only Summit County's personal per capita income ranks above the U.S. average. Almost half of Utah's counties show personal per capita income at 64 percent or less of the U.S. average. One reason for Utah's fairly poor showing in the per capita income arena results from its large share of population under the age of 18 (the highest share in the nation)--since most children earn little or no income.
