The bureau said that the number of single-family home permits issued in Utah during the first quarter was up 110 percent over the number in the first quarter of 2009. The state issued 1,522 new home building permits in the first three months of this year.
The total for all residential units rose 7.1 percent during the first quarter, for a total of 2,119 permits. Multifamily unit figures were down from 1,220 in the 2009 first quarter to 560 in the 2010 first quarter.
The value of new residential construction is up 52 percent to nearly $400 million, compared with $258 million in the 2009 first quarter. The Deseret News
