Workers in Utah's capital city made a mean hourly wage of $19.97 in May 2009, almost a full dollar under the national mean of $20.90, according to a report released Friday by the U.S. Department of Labor.Of 22 major occupational groups surveyed, only one — sales — had wages measurably higher than the national average. In comparison, 12 job categories were below national averages.The report breaks each of 22 categories into several different jobs and lists the number of employees and mean wages for each.
