120 to be laid off at Citi in Layton

Officials with Citi Commerce Solutions announced Wednesday they are laying off about 120 workers at the firm's credit card service center in Layton. The center at 2195 University Park Blvd. employs about 540 people and supports the private label credit division for Citigroup Inc. Positions are being eliminated in the center's collections and fraud detection departments, which will be consolidated with other Citi operations, said Janis Tarter, a San Francisco-based spokeswoman for Citi. The layoffs will be completed by early next year. Efforts are under way to help furloughed workers find other jobs within Citi as well as outside the company, she said. In addition to the layoffs, about 270 employees at the Citi Commerce Solutions will begin transitioning to "work at home positions" and about 160 employees will relocate to a smaller building that will be leased in the Layton area, said Tarter. The transition should be complete sometime in 2011.
