Utah school achievement racial gap on of highest

Utah is among a small group of states that’s earned an unwelcome distinction, according to a new federal education report. It’s one of only five states, plus the District of Columbia, where the achievement gap between Latino fourth-graders and their white peers on national tests was larger than the national average in 2009, according to a report released Thursday by the National Center for Education Statistics.
