Index shows July boost in Utah economic growth

Utah’s portion of a three-state index that gauges business conditions came in above growth-neutral for July, while also signaling steady progress in the months ahead. Utah’s average of indexes for new orders, production or sales, employment, inventories and delivery lead time was at 57.4 for July, up from 55 in June. The index ranges between 0 and 100, with 50 deemed growth neutral. According to the report, issued Monday, values assigned to various Utah components included new orders, 49.4; production and sales, 58.9; delivery lead time, 58; inventories, 57.3; and employment, 53.3.
