Unemployment Insurance Weekly Claims Report

The latest Unemployment Insurance (UI) Weekly Claims Report is now available from the US Department of Labor. The 4-week moving average of nationwide initial claims has decreased from the revised number of 380,000 last week to 377,500 this week.

The report dated 26 January 2012 reflects our unemployment numbers for week-ending 21 January 2012. During this week, 2,372 initial claims were filed in Utah compared to 2,654 the prior week. The numbers listed below are based on the 4-week moving average.

• 3,086 initial UI claims filed (decrease of 47 from the prior week and decrease of 840 from same week in 2011).
• 26,152 continued UI weeks claimed (increase of 726 from the prior week and decrease of 4,793 from same week in 2011).
• 12,411 continued EUC08 weeks claimed (decrease of 92 from the prior week and decrease of 6,886 from same week in 2011).
