The latest Unemployment Insurance (UI) Weekly Claims Report is now available from the US Department of Labor. The 4-week moving average of nationwide initial claims has increased from the revised number of 375,000 last week to 370,000 this week.
The report dated 24 May 2012 reflects our unemployment numbers for week-ending 12 May 2012. During this week, 1,769 initial claims were filed in Utah compared to 1,714 the prior week. The numbers listed below are based on the 4-week moving average.
- 1,790 initial UI claims filed (decrease of 124 from the prior week and decrease of 437 from same week in 2011).
- 16,979 continued UI weeks claimed (decrease of 734 from the prior week and decrease of 7,141 from same week in 2011).
- 9,799 continued EUC08 weeks claimed (decrease of 493 from the prior week and decrease of 6,495 from same week in 2011).
