Unemployment Insurance Weekly Claims Report

The latest Unemployment Insurance (UI) Weekly Claims Report is now available from the US Department of Labor. The four-week moving average of nationwide initial claims has increased from the revised number of 351,000 last week to 352,500 this week.

The report dated 21 February 2013 reflects our unemployment numbers for week-ending 9 February 2013. During this week, 1,768 initial claims were filed in Utah compared to 1,957 the prior week. The numbers listed below are based on the four-week moving average.

• 2,013 initial UI claims filed (decrease of 216 from the prior week and decrease of 356 from same week in 2012).
• 23,517 continued UI weeks claimed (decrease of 151 from the prior week and decrease of 3,231 from same week in 2012).
• 4,813 continued EUC08 weeks claimed (decrease of 178 from the prior week and decrease of 7,105 from the same week in 2012).
