Unemployment Insurance Weekly Claims Report

The latest Unemployment Insurance (UI) Weekly Claims Report is now available from the US Department of Labor. The four-week moving average of nationwide initial claims has increased from the revised number of 360,000 last week to 351,750 this week.

The report dated 31 January 2013 reflects our unemployment numbers for week-ending 19 January 2013. During this week, 2,111 initial claims were filed in Utah compared to 2,632 the prior week. The numbers listed below are based on the four-week moving average.

• 2,791 initial UI claims filed (decrease of 27 from the prior week and decrease of 342 from same week in 2012).
• 22,905 continued UI weeks claimed (increase of 864 from the prior week and decrease of 2,521 from same week in 2012).
• 5,760 continued EUC08 weeks claimed (decrease of 457 from the prior week and decrease of 6,743 from the same week in 2012).
