Unemployment Insurance Weekly Claims Report

The latest Unemployment Insurance (UI) Weekly Claims Report is now available from the US Department of Labor. The four-week moving average of nationwide initial claims has increased from the revised number of 355,750 last week to 348,750 this week.

The report dated 14 March 2013 reflects our unemployment numbers for week-ending 2 March 2013. During this week, 1,867 initial claims were filed in Utah compared to 1,828 the prior week. The numbers listed below are based on the four-week moving average.

• 1,766 initial UI claims filed (decrease of 23 from the prior week and decrease of 173 from same week in 2012).
• 22,167 continued UI weeks claimed (decrease of 561 from the prior week and decrease of 3,654 from same week in 2012).
• 4,453 continued EUC08 weeks claimed (decrease of 99 from the prior week and decrease of 7,206 from the same week in 2012).
