Unemployment Insurance Weekly Claims Report

The latest Unemployment Insurance (UI) Weekly Claims Report is now available from the US Department of Labor. The four-week moving average of nationwide initial claims has increased from the revised number of 362,000 last week to 357,500 this week.

The report dated 25 April 2013 reflects our unemployment numbers for week-ending 13 April 2013. During this week, 2,431 initial claims were filed in Utah compared to 2,329 the prior week. The numbers listed below are based on the four-week moving average.

• 1,973 initial UI claims filed (increase of 198 from the prior week and increase of 64 from same week in 2012).
• 17,496 continued UI weeks claimed (decrease of 687 from the prior week and decrease of 3,783 from same week in 2012).
• 3,940 continued EUC08 weeks claimed (decrease of 100 from the prior week and decrease of 7,639 from the same week in 2012).
