Unemployment Insurance Weekly Claims Report

The latest Unemployment Insurance (UI) Weekly Claims Report is now available from the US Department of Labor. The four-week moving average of nationwide initial claims has increased from the revised number of 348,000 last week to 361,250 this week.

The report dated 18 April 2013 reflects our unemployment numbers for week-ending 6 April 2013. During this week, 2,329 initial claims were filed in Utah compared to 1,657 the prior week. The numbers listed below are based on the four-week moving average.

• 1,775 initial UI claims filed (increase of 174 from the prior week and decrease of 50 from same week in 2012).
• 18,183 continued UI weeks claimed (decrease of 959 from the prior week and decrease of 3,984 from same week in 2012).
• 4,040 continued EUC08 weeks claimed (decrease of 107 from the prior week and decrease of 7,627 from the same week in 2012).
