Unemployment Insurance Weekly Claims Report

The latest Unemployment Insurance (UI) Weekly Claims Report is now available from the US Department of Labor. The four-week moving average of nationwide initial claims has increased from the revised number of 340,750 last week to 343,000 this week.

The report dated 4 April 2013 reflects our unemployment numbers for week-ending 23 March 2013. During this week, 1,476 initial claims were filed in Utah compared to 1,638 the prior week. The numbers listed below are based on the four-week moving average.

• 1,654 initial UI claims filed (decrease of 88 from the prior week and decrease of 168 from same week in 2012).
• 20,093 continued UI weeks claimed (decrease of 824 from the prior week and decrease of 3,881 from same week in 2012).
• 4,258 continued EUC08 weeks claimed (decrease of 50 from the prior week and decrease of 7,453 from the same week in 2012).
