Unemployment Insurance Weekly Claims Report

The latest Unemployment Insurance (UI) Weekly Claims Report is now available from the US Department of Labor. The four-week moving average of nationwide initial claims has increased from the revised number of 340,500 last week to 347,250 this week.

The report dated 30 May 2013 reflects our unemployment numbers for week-ending 18 May 2013. During this week, 1,666 initial claims were filed in Utah compared to 1,558 the prior week. The numbers listed below are based on the four-week moving average.

• 1,625 initial UI claims filed (decrease of 67 from the prior week and decrease of 165 from same week in 2012).
• 15,124 continued UI weeks claimed (decrease of 588 from the prior week and decrease of 1,856 from same week in 2012).
• 3,218 continued EUC08 weeks claimed (decrease of 122 from the prior week and decrease of 6,582 from the same week in 2012).
