Unemployment Insurance Weekly Claims Report

The latest Unemployment Insurance (UI) Weekly Claims Report is now available from the US Department of Labor. The four-week moving average of nationwide initial claims has increased from the revised number of 343,000 last week to 336,750 this week.

The report dated 9 May 2013 reflects our unemployment numbers for week-ending 27 April 2013. During this week, 1,686 initial claims were filed in Utah compared to 1,933 the prior week. The numbers listed below are based on the four-week moving average.

• 2,095 initial UI claims filed (increase of 7 from the prior week and decrease of 21 from same week in 2012).
• 16,613 continued UI weeks claimed (decrease of 396 from the prior week and decrease of 2,823 from same week in 2012).
• 3,796 continued EUC08 weeks claimed (decrease of 87 from the prior week and decrease of 7,337 from the same week in 2012).
