Unemployment Insurance Weekly Claims Report

The latest Unemployment Insurance (UI) Weekly Claims Report is now available from the US Department of Labor. The four-week moving average of nationwide initial claims has increased from the revised number of 338,000 last week to 339,250 this week.

The report dated 16 May 2013 reflects our unemployment numbers for week-ending 4 May 2013. During this week, 1,590 initial claims were filed in Utah compared to 1,686 the prior week. The numbers listed below are based on the four-week moving average.

• 1,910 initial UI claims filed (decrease of 185 from the prior week and decrease of 80 from same week in 2012).
• 16,228 continued UI weeks claimed (decrease of 385 from the prior week and decrease of 2,362 from same week in 2012).
• 3,709 continued EUC08 weeks claimed (decrease of 370 from the prior week and decrease of 7,030 from the same week in 2012).
