Unemployment Insurance Weekly Claims Report

The latest Unemployment Insurance (UI) Weekly Claims Report is now available from the US Department of Labor. The four-week moving average of nationwide initial claims has increased from the revised number of 339,500 last week to 340,000 this week.

The report dated 23 May 2013 reflects our unemployment numbers for week-ending 11 May 2013. During this week, 1,558 initial claims were filed in Utah compared to 1,590 the prior week. The numbers listed below are based on the four-week moving average.

• 1,692 initial UI claims filed (decrease of 218 from the prior week and decrease of 221 from same week in 2012).
• 15,712 continued UI weeks claimed (decrease of 517 from the prior week and decrease of 2,002 from same week in 2012).
• 3,339 continued EUC08 weeks claimed (decrease of 370 from the prior week and decrease of 6,952 from the same week in 2012).
