Unemployment Insurance Weekly Claims Report

The latest Unemployment Insurance (UI) Weekly Claims Report is now available from the US Department of Labor. The four-week moving average of nationwide initial claims has increased from the revised number of 330,500 last week to 331,250 this week. 

The report dated 29 August 2013 reflects our unemployment numbers for week-ending 17 August 2013. During this week, 1,574 initial claims were filed in Utah compared to 1,456 the prior week. The numbers listed below are based on the four-week moving average.

• 1,518 initial UI claims filed (increase of 58 from the prior week and decrease of 104 from same week in 2012).
• 13,323 continued UI weeks claimed (decrease of 223 from the prior week and decrease of 1,177 from same week in 2012).
• 2,731 continued EUC08 weeks claimed (decrease of 57 from the prior week and decrease of 3,169 from the same week in 2012).
