Unemployment Insurance Weekly Claims Report

The latest Unemployment Insurance (UI) Weekly Claims Report is now available from the US Department of Labor. The four-week moving average of nationwide initial claims has increased from the revised number of 341,250 last week to 345,750 this week.

The report dated 1 August 2013 reflects our unemployment numbers for week-ending 20 July 2013. During this week, 1,341 initial claims were filed in Utah compared to 1,582 the prior week. The numbers listed below are based on the four-week moving average.

• 1,628 initial UI claims filed (decrease of 63 from the prior week and decrease of 208 from same week in 2012).
• 14,012 continued UI weeks claimed (decrease of 9 from the prior week and decrease of 1,207 from same week in 2012).
• 2,881 continued EUC08 weeks claimed (decrease of 25 from the prior week and decrease of 4,017 from the same week in 2012).
