Unemployment Insurance Weekly Claims Report

The latest Unemployment Insurance (UI) Weekly Claims Report is now available from the US Department of Labor. The four-week moving average of nationwide initial claims has increased from the revised number of 328,750 last week to 321,250 this week. 

The report dated 12 September 2013 reflects our unemployment numbers for week-ending 31 August 2013. During this week, 1,402 initial claims were filed in Utah compared to 1,568 the prior week. The numbers listed below are based on the four-week moving average.

• 1,500 initial UI claims filed (decrease of 37 from the prior week and decrease of 167 from same week in 2012).
• 12,925 continued UI weeks claimed (decrease of 199 from the prior week and decrease of 959 from same week in 2012).
• 2,666 continued EUC08 weeks claimed (decrease of 9 from the prior week and decrease of 2,805 from the same week in 2012).
