Unemployment Insurance Weekly Claims Report for 21 August 2014

The latest Unemployment Insurance (UI) Weekly Claims Report is now available from the US Department of Labor. The four-week moving average of nationwide initial claims was 295,750, an increase of 2,000 from the previous week's revised average.

The report reflects unemployment numbers for week-ending 16 August 2014.  During this week, 1,270 initial claims were filed in Utah compared to 1,394 the prior week. The numbers listed below are based on the four-week moving average.
  • 1,276 initial UI claims filed (decrease of 13 from the prior week and decrease of 216 from same week in 2013).
  • 11,290 continued UI weeks claimed (decrease of 146 from the prior week and decrease of 2,490 from same week in 2013).
  • 0 continued Extended Unemployment Compensation (EUC08) weeks claimed (no change from the prior week and decrease of 2,796 from the same week in 2013).
