Utah jobless claims approach three-year low

The number of Utahns filing initial claims for jobless benefits hit a 33-month low in the week ending June 26.
The Utah Department of Workforce Services received 1,738 applications for unemployment benefits last week, down by 150 from the previous week and the lowest weekly number since Sept. 27, 2008 (1,619 claims). The less-volatile four-week average also dipped below a symbolically important 2,000, to 1,926. That’s as low as that number has been since Oct. 11, 2008 (1,904). Salt Lake Tribune
