Utah’s planted acres for crops mostly up

Utah-planted acreage for winter wheat, spring wheat and corn are up from last year, while this year’s acreage estimates are equal to last year for oats but down for barley.

It is estimated there will be 700,000 acres of hay cut and baled, the same as last year. Of the 700,000 acres, 540,000 will be alfalfa and 160,000 acres of other types of hay, both equal to 2010 levels, according to the National Agricultural Statistics Service, Utah Field Office. Salt Lake Tribune
