The latest Unemployment Insurance (UI) Weekly Claims Report is now available from the US Department of Labor. The 4-week moving average of nationwide initial claims has decreased from the revised number of 380,750 last week to 375,000 this week.
The report dated December 28, 2011 reflects our unemployment numbers for week-ending December 24, 2011. During this week, 2,558 initial claims were filed in Utah compared to 2,653 the prior week. The numbers listed below are based on the 4-week moving average.
- 2,712 initial UI claims filed (decrease of 144 from the prior week and decrease of 460 from same week in 2010)
- 23,015 continued UI weeks claimed (increase of 689 from the prior week and decrease of 5,002 from same week in 2010)
- 12,633 continued EUC08 weeks claimed (decrease of 3 from the prior week and decrease of 6,880 from same week in 2010)
