The health-advocacy group Breathe Utah has a new funding source as a nonprofit partner of 1% for the Planet.
Breathe Utah is now eligible to receive donations from 1% member companies, roughly 1,380 of them in 43 countries.
Businesses aligned with the network made contributions that totaled more than $70 million, including $22 million in 2010
"Air pollution is a complex and complicated issue, affecting health, quality of life and the economy," said Karen Hevel-Mingo, executive director of Breathe Utah, noting that people often lack a clear understanding of how they are contributing to pollution and what they can do to make a difference.
