Unemployment Insurance Weekly Claims Report

The latest Unemployment Insurance (UI) Weekly Claims Report is now available from the US Department of Labor. The four-week moving average of nationwide initial claims has increased from the revised number of 359,250 last week to 366,000 this week.

The report dated 24 January 2013 reflects our unemployment numbers for week-ending 12 January 2013. During this week, 2,632 initial claims were filed in Utah compared to 3,673 the prior week. The numbers listed below are based on the four-week moving average.

• 2,818 initial UI claims filed (decrease of 29 from the prior week and decrease of 314 from same week in 2012).
• 22,041 continued UI weeks claimed (increase of 1,049 from the prior week and decrease of 2,551 from same week in 2012).
• 6,217 continued EUC08 weeks claimed (decrease of 364 from the prior week and decrease of 6,430 from the same week in 2012).
