Unemployment Insurance Weekly Claims Report

The latest Unemployment Insurance (UI) Weekly Claims Report is now available from the US Department of Labor. The four-week moving average of nationwide initial claims has increased from the revised number of 349,500 last week to 346,750 this week.

The report dated 21 March 2013 reflects our unemployment numbers for week-ending 9 March 2013. During this week, 1,635 initial claims were filed in Utah compared to 1,867 the prior week. The numbers listed below are based on the four-week moving average.

• 1,733 initial UI claims filed (decrease of 33 from the prior week and decrease of 166 from same week in 2012).
• 21,613 continued UI weeks claimed (decrease of 555 from the prior week and decrease of 3,692 from same week in 2012).
• 4,380 continued EUC08 weeks claimed (decrease of 73 from the prior week and decrease of 7,296 from the same week in 2012).
