Unemployment Insurance Weekly Claims Report for Oct. 17

The latest Unemployment Insurance (UI) Weekly Claims Report is now available from the US Department of Labor. The four-week moving average of nationwide initial claims was 336,500, an increase of 11,750 from the previous week's unrevised average of 324,750.

The report dated 17 October 2013 reflects our unemployment numbers for week-ending 5 October 2013. During this week, 3,107 initial claims were filed in Utah compared to 6,094 the prior week. The numbers listed below are based on the four-week moving average.

  • 3,026 initial UI claims filed (increase of 357 from the prior week and increase of 1,375 from same week in 2012). 
  • 13,131 continued UI weeks claimed (increase of 751 from the prior week and increase of 500 from same week in 2012). 
  • 2,620 continued EUC08 weeks claimed (decrease of 12 from the prior week and decrease of 2,302 from the same week in 2012).
