Unemployment Insurance Weekly Claims Report 26 December 2013

The latest Unemployment Insurance (UI) Weekly Claims Report is now available from the US Department of Labor. The four-week moving average of nationwide initial claims was 348,000, an increase of 4,250 from the previous week's revised average of 343,750.

The report dated 26 December 2013 reflects our unemployment numbers for week-ending 21 December 2013. During this week, 2,455 initial claims were filed in Utah compared to 2,924 the prior week. The numbers listed below are based on the four-week moving average.
  • 2,606 initial UI claims filed (increase of 36 from the prior week and decrease of 24 from same week in 2012).
  • 16,596 continued UI weeks claimed (increase of 892 from the prior week and decrease of 1,016 from same week in 2012).
  • 2,937 continued Extended Unemployment Compensation (EUC08) weeks claimed (increase of 14 from the prior week and decrease of 3,966 from the same week in 2012).
