Unemployment Insurance Weekly Claims Report 19 December 2013

The latest Unemployment Insurance (UI) Weekly Claims Report is now available from the US Department of Labor. The four-week moving average of nationwide initial claims was 343,500, an increase of 13,250 from the previous week's revised average of 330,250.

The report dated 19 December 2013 reflects our unemployment numbers for week-ending 14 December 2013. During this week, 2,924 initial claims were filed in Utah compared to 3,349 the prior week. The numbers listed below are based on the four-week moving average.

  • 2,570 initial UI claims filed (increase of 237 from the prior week and decrease of 42 from same week in 2012).
  • 15,704 continued UI weeks claimed (increase of 762 from the prior week and decrease of 1,073 from same week in 2012).
  • 2,923 continued Extended Unemployment Compensation (EUC08) weeks claimed (increase of 24 from the prior week and decrease of 3,937 from the same week in 2012).
