Unemployment Insurance Weekly Claims Report for 9 January 2014

The latest Unemployment Insurance (UI) Weekly Claims Report is now available from the US Department of Labor. The four-week moving average of nationwide initial claims was 349,000, a decrease of 9,750 from the previous week's revised average of 358,750.

The report dated 9 January 2014 reflects our unemployment numbers for week-ending 4 January 2014. During this week, 2,088 initial claims were filed in Utah compared to 2,019 the prior week. The numbers listed below are based on the four-week moving average.

  • 2,372 initial UI claims filed (decrease of 315 from the prior week and decrease of 260 from same week in 2012).
  • 18,616 continued UI weeks claimed (increase of 1,085 from the prior week and decrease of 535 from same week in 2012).
  • 2,889 continued Extended Unemployment Compensation (EUC08) weeks claimed (decrease of 68 from the prior week and decrease of 3,986 from the same week in 2012).
