Unemployment Insurance Weekly Claims Report for 16 January 2014

The latest Unemployment Insurance (UI) Weekly Claims Report is now available from the US Department of Labor. The four-week moving average of nationwide initial claims was 335,000, a decrease of 13,500 from the previous week's revised average of 348,500.

The report dated 16 January 2014 reflects our unemployment numbers for week-ending 11 January 2014. During this week, 3,288 initial claims were filed in Utah compared to 2,088 the prior week. The numbers listed below are based on the four-week moving average.

  • 2,463 initial UI claims filed (increase of 91 from the prior week and decrease of 145 from same week in 2013).
  • 19,460 continued UI weeks claimed (increase of 845 from the prior week and decrease of 599 from same week in 2013).
  • 2,153 continued Extended Unemployment Compensation (EUC08) weeks claimed (decrease of 736 from the prior week and decrease of 4,676 from the same week in 2013).
