Unemployment Insurance Weekly Claims Report for 23 January 2014

The latest Unemployment Insurance (UI) Weekly Claims Report is now available from the US Department of Labor. The four-week moving average of nationwide initial claims was 331,500, a decrease of 3,750 from the previous week's revised average of 335,250.

The report dated 23 January 2014 reflects our unemployment numbers for week-ending 18 January 2014. During this week, 2,156 initial claims were filed in Utah compared to 3,288 the prior week. The numbers listed below are based on the four-week moving average.

  • 2,388 initial UI claims filed (decrease of 75 from the prior week and decrease of 460 from same week in 2013).
  • 20,203 continued UI weeks claimed (increase of 742 from the prior week and decrease of 789 from same week in 2013).
  • 1,412 continued Extended Unemployment Compensation (EUC08) weeks claimed (decrease of 741 from the prior week and decrease of 5,168 from the same week in 2013).
