Unemployment Insurance Weekly Claims Report for 24 April 2014

The latest Unemployment Insurance (UI) Weekly Claims Report is now available from the US Department of Labor. The four-week moving average of nationwide initial claims was 316,750, an increase of 4,750 from the previous week's unrevised average of 312,000.

The report reflects unemployment numbers for week-ending 19 April 2014. During this week, 1,776 initial claims were filed in Utah compared to 1,768 the prior week. The numbers listed below are based on the four-week moving average.
  • 1,596 initial UI claims filed (increase of 105 from the prior week and decrease of 180 from same week in 2013).
  • 14,740 continued UI weeks claimed (decrease of 793 from the prior week and decrease of 3,443 from same week in 2013).
  • 1 continued Extended Unemployment Compensation (EUC08) weeks claimed (no change from the prior week and decrease of 4,039 from the same week in 2013).
