Unemployment Insurance Weekly Claims Report for 1 May 2014

The latest Unemployment Insurance (UI) Weekly Claims Report is now available from the US Department of Labor. The four-week moving average of nationwide initial claims was 320,000, an increase of 3,000 from the previous week's revised average.

The report reflects unemployment numbers for week-ending 26 April 2014. During this week, 1,769 initial claims were filed in Utah compared to 1,776 the prior week. The numbers listed below are based on the four-week moving average.
  • 1,703 initial UI claims filed (increase of 108 from the prior week and decrease of 270 from same week in 2013).
  • 14,093 continued UI weeks claimed (decrease of 647 from the prior week and decrease of 3,403 from same week in 2013).
  • 1 continued Extended Unemployment Compensation (EUC08) weeks claimed (decrease of 1 from the prior week and decrease of 3,939 from the same week in 2013).
