Unemployment Insurance Weekly Claims Report

The latest Unemployment Insurance (UI) Weekly Claims Report is now available from the US Department of Labor. The 4-week moving average of nationwide initial claims has increased from the revised number of 366,000  last week to 368,250 this week.

The report dated 9 August 2012 reflects our unemployment numbers for week-ending 28 July 2012. During this week, 1,665 initial claims were filed in Utah compared to 1,505 the prior week. The numbers listed below are based on the 4-week moving average.

• 1,672 initial UI claims filed (decrease of 108 from the prior week and decrease of 275 from same week in 2011).
• 15,063 continued UI weeks claimed (decrease of 105 from the prior week and decrease of 5,284 from same week in 2011).
• 6,359 continued EUC08 weeks claimed (decrease of 255 from the prior week and decrease of 7,237 from same week in 2011).
