Unemployment Insurance Weekly Claims Report

The latest Unemployment Insurance (UI) Weekly Claims Report is now available from the US Department of Labor. The 4-week moving average of nationwide initial claims has increased from the revised number of 369,250  last week to 363,750 this week.

The report dated 16 August 2012 reflects our unemployment numbers for week-ending 4 August 2012. During this week, 1,708 initial claims were filed in Utah compared to 1,665 the prior week. The numbers listed below are based on the 4-week moving average.

• 1,642 initial UI claims filed (decrease of 30 from the prior week and decrease of 206 from same week in 2011).
• 14,778 continued UI weeks claimed (decrease of 285 from the prior week and decrease of 5,351 from same week in 2011).
• 6,193 continued EUC08 weeks claimed (decrease of 166 from the prior week and decrease of 7,214 from same week in 2011).
