Unemployment Insurance Weekly Claims Report

The latest Unemployment Insurance (UI) Weekly Claims Report is now available from the US Department of Labor. The four-week moving average of nationwide initial claims has increased from the revised number of 378,500 last week to 374,000 this week.

The report dated 27 September 2012 reflects our unemployment numbers for week-ending 15 September 2012. During this week, 1,541 initial claims were filed in Utah compared to 1,655 the prior week. The numbers listed below are based on the four-week moving average.

• 1,611 initial UI claims filed (decrease of 12 from the prior week and decrease of 308 from same week in 2011).
• 12,937 continued UI weeks claimed (decrease of 263 from the prior week and decrease of 5,659 from same week in 2011).
• 4,855 continued EUC08 weeks claimed (decrease of 143 from the prior week and decrease of 7,843 from the same week in 2011).
