Unemployment Insurance Weekly Claims Report

The latest Unemployment Insurance (UI) Weekly Claims Report is now available from the US Department of Labor. The 4-week moving average of nationwide initial claims has increased from the revised number of 371,000  last week to 371,250 this week.

The report dated 6 September 2012 reflects our unemployment numbers for week-ending 25 August 2012. During this week, 1,761 initial claims were filed in Utah compared to 1,589 the prior week. The numbers listed below are based on the 4-week moving average.

• 1,667 initial UI claims filed (increase of 24 from the prior week and decrease of 242 from same week in 2011).
• 13,883 continued UI weeks claimed (decrease of 314 from the prior week and decrease of 5,332 from same week in 2011).
• 5,470 continued EUC08 weeks claimed (decrease of 144 from the prior week and decrease of 7,578 from same week in 2011).
