Unemployment Insurance Weekly Claims Report

The latest Unemployment Insurance (UI) Weekly Claims Report is now available from the US Department of Labor. The four-week moving average of nationwide initial claims has increased from the revised number of 366,500 last week to 368,000 this week.

The report dated 25 October 2012 reflects our unemployment numbers for week-ending 13 October 2012. During this week, 1,905 initial claims were filed in Utah compared to 1,960 the prior week. The numbers listed below are based on the four-week moving average.

• 1,818 initial UI claims filed (increase of 91 from the prior week and decrease of 173 from same week in 2011).
• 12,789 continued UI weeks claimed (increase of 214 from the prior week and decrease of 4,917 from same week in 2011).
• 5,464 continued EUC08 weeks claimed (increase of 362 from the prior week and decrease of 6,857 from the same week in 2011).
