Unemployment Insurance Weekly Claims Report

The latest Unemployment Insurance (UI) Weekly Claims Report is now available from the US Department of Labor. The four-week moving average of nationwide initial claims has increased from the revised number of 375,500 last week to 364,000 this week.

The report dated 11 October 2012 reflects our unemployment numbers for week-ending 29 September 2012. During this week, 1,820 initial claims were filed in Utah compared to 1,588 the prior week. The numbers listed below are based on the four-week moving average.

• 1,651 initial UI claims filed (increase of 84 from the prior week and decrease of 135 from same week in 2011).
• 12,631 continued UI weeks claimed (decrease of 88 from the prior week and decrease of 5,460 from same week in 2011).
• 4,921 continued EUC08 weeks claimed (increase of 230 from the prior week and decrease of 7,551 from the same week in 2011).
