Unemployment Insurance Weekly Claims Report

The latest Unemployment Insurance (UI) Weekly Claims Report is now available from the US Department of Labor. The four-week moving average of nationwide initial claims has increased from the revised number of 375,000 last week to 375,000 this week.

The report dated 4 October 2012 reflects our unemployment numbers for week-ending 22 September 2012. During this week, 1,588 initial claims were filed in Utah compared to 1,541 the prior week. The numbers listed below are based on the four-week moving average.

• 1,568 initial UI claims filed (decrease of 43 from the prior week and decrease of 277 from same week in 2011).
• 12,719 continued UI weeks claimed (decrease of 218 from the prior week and decrease of 5,632 from same week in 2011).
• 4,692 continued EUC08 weeks claimed (decrease of 163 from the prior week and decrease of 7,878 from the same week in 2011).
