Unemployment Insurance Weekly Claims Report

The latest Unemployment Insurance (UI) Weekly Claims Report is now available from the US Department of Labor. The four-week moving average of nationwide initial claims has increased from the revised number of 397,750 last week to 405,250 this week.

The report dated 29 November 2012 reflects our unemployment numbers for week-ending 17 November 2012. During this week, 2,184 initial claims were filed in Utah compared to 2,638 the prior week. The numbers listed below are based on the four-week moving average.

• 2,383 initial UI claims filed (decrease of 56 from the prior week and decrease of 125 from same week in 2011).
• 15,308 continued UI weeks claimed (increase of 664 from the prior week and decrease of 3,390 from same week in 2011).
• 6,684 continued EUC08 weeks claimed (increase of 133 from the prior week and decrease of 5,680 from the same week in 2011).
