Unemployment Insurance Weekly Claims Report

The latest Unemployment Insurance (UI) Weekly Claims Report is now available from the US Department of Labor. The four-week moving average of nationwide initial claims has increased from the revised number of 368,750 last week to 367,250 this week.

The report dated 1 November 2012 reflects our unemployment numbers for week-ending 20 October 2012. During this week, 2,407 initial claims were filed in Utah compared to 1,905 the prior week. The numbers listed below are based on the four-week moving average.

• 2,023 initial UI claims filed (increase of 205 from the prior week and decrease of 90 from same week in 2011).
• 13,052 continued UI weeks claimed (increase of 263 from the prior week and decrease of 4,674 from same week in 2011).
• 5,861 continued EUC08 weeks claimed (increase of 397 from the prior week and decrease of 6,424 from the same week in 2011).
