Unemployment Insurance Weekly Claims Report

The latest Unemployment Insurance (UI) Weekly Claims Report is now available from the US Department of Labor. The four-week moving average of nationwide initial claims has increased from the revised number of 367,250 last week to 370,500 this week.

The report dated 8 November 2012 reflects our unemployment numbers for week-ending 27 October 2012. During this week, 2,282 initial claims were filed in Utah compared to 2,407 the prior week. The numbers listed below are based on the four-week moving average.

• 2,139 initial UI claims filed (increase of 116 from the prior week and decrease of 55 from same week in 2011).
• 13,540 continued UI weeks claimed (increase of 488 from the prior week and decrease of 4,282 from same week in 2011).
• 6,127 continued EUC08 weeks claimed (increase of 266 from the prior week and decrease of 6,128 from the same week in 2011).
