Unemployment Insurance Weekly Claims Report

The latest Unemployment Insurance (UI) Weekly Claims Report is now available from the US Department of Labor. The four-week moving average of nationwide initial claims has increased from the revised number of 368,000 last week to 356,750 this week.

The report dated 27 December 2012 reflects our unemployment numbers for week-ending 15 December 2012. During this week, 2,749 initial claims were filed in Utah compared to 2,714 the prior week. The numbers listed below are based on the four-week moving average.

• 2,772 initial UI claims filed (increase of 141 from the prior week and decrease of 48 from same week in 2011).
• 18,382 continued UI weeks claimed (increase of 771 from the prior week and decrease of 3,172 from same week in 2011).
• 6,912 continued EUC08 weeks claimed (increase of 9 from the prior week and decrease of 5,707 from the same week in 2011).
