Unemployment Insurance Weekly Claims Report

The latest Unemployment Insurance (UI) Weekly Claims Report is now available from the US Department of Labor. The four-week moving average of nationwide initial claims has increased from the revised number of 408,500 last week to 381,500 this week.

The report dated 13 December 2012 reflects our unemployment numbers for week-ending 1 December 2012. During this week, 2,845 initial claims were filed in Utah compared to 2,778 the prior week. The numbers listed below are based on the four-week moving average.

• 2,611 initial UI claims filed (increase of 104 from the prior week and decrease of 135 from same week in 2011).
• 16,776 continued UI weeks claimed (increase of 778 from the prior week and decrease of 3,236 from same week in 2011).
• 6,860 continued EUC08 weeks claimed (increase of 73 from the prior week and decrease of 5,643 from the same week in 2011).
