The Salt Lake Tribune reports that Utah's graduation rate of 76 percent is lower than 31 states. The data reflects graduation rates in 2010-11.
Graduation rates for minority students are much lower. The rate of 57 percent for Latino students ranks as the fourth-lowest in the country for that ethnic group. Asian/Pacific Islander students graduated 72 percent of the time, second-lowest in the country for that group.
Utah state associate superintendent Judy Park says she's disappointed in the rankings but that she expects improvement in the more recent year's data. She said there's a connection in the low rates and the state's lowest-in-the-nation per pupil spending. Cache Daily
