Unemployment Insurance Weekly Claims Report

The latest Unemployment Insurance (UI) Weekly Claims Report is now available from the US Department of Labor. The four-week moving average of nationwide initial claims has increased from the revised number of 359,000 last week to 365,750 this week.

The report dated 10 January 2013 reflects our unemployment numbers for week-ending 29 December 2012. During this week, 2,748 initial claims were filed in Utah compared to 2,219 the prior week. The numbers listed below are based on the four-week moving average.

• 2,608 initial UI claims filed (decrease of 24 from the prior week and decrease of 104 from same week in 2011).
• 20,060 continued UI weeks claimed (increase of 910 from the prior week and decrease of 2,955 from same week in 2011).
• 6,829 continued EUC08 weeks claimed (decrease of 46 from the prior week and decrease of 5,804 from the same week in 2011).
